Community Health Improvement Award
For 11 years, HANYS has offered its Community Health Improvement Award in recognition of members outstanding initiatives to improve the health and well being of their communities. In 2008 HANYS received 41 nominations for the award, representing the broad range of remarkable services hospitals and health systems offer accross NY.
2009 Award Winners
This year, the winner of HANYS Community Health Improvement Award is the University of Rochester Medical Center for its Health-e-Access (HeA) Telemedicine Network.
Honorable Mentions were awarded to Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester for its Diabetes Outpatient Education Program and to New York City Health and Hospitals Corporations Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center for its Geriatric Outreach Program.

Kathy Parrinello, Chief Operating Officer of Strong Memorial Hospital, accepts the 2009 Community Health Improvement Award for the Health-e-Access program, on behalf of the University of Rochester Medical Center. Presenting the award is David Kruczlnicki, HANYS' Chairman and President and Chief Executive Officer of Glens Falls Hospital.

Margaret Monahan, R.N., Director of Nursing, accepts Honorable Mention for the 2009 Community Health Improvement Award, on behalf of Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester for their Diabetes Outpatient Education Program.
