STATEMENT FROM HANYS PRESIDENT DANIEL SISTO ON NEW SIENA POLL
Survey Finds Huge Drop in Governor Pataki’s Favorable Rating
“This poll shows in absolute terms what we believed all along: New Yorkers do not support Governor Pataki’s reckless cuts to emergency rooms and nursing homes. As Governor, you simply cannot ignore the will of the people and not pay the price for it. We believe the poll also shows that our statewide campaign calling on the public to reject the Governor’s health care cuts is working better than we could have hoped.
“The good news, however, is that it’s not too late. There is still time for the Governor to listen to the people who elected him and provide the funding our hospitals and nursing homes need to continue providing lifesaving care.”
Note: the Siena Research Institute of Siena College poll is available online at http://www.siena.edu/sri/results/2006/06_May_NYPoll.htm.
