HANYS Releases Above and Beyond: The Community Service and Volunteerism of New York State's Hospitals
ALBANY, NY — New York State’s hospitals have a long tradition of caring for their communities—going “above and beyond” their call of duty to keep communities healthy and safe, heal the sick, treat the injured, and comfort the dying. To celebrate National Hospital Week and all that our hospitals do for their communities, the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) has released Above and Beyond: The Community Service and Volunteerism of New York State’s Hospitals, which represents a sample of the services and programs that hospitals are providing to their communities and have highlighted in their comprehensive 2005 Community Service Plans.
“Our hospitals are integral, essential, and active community members who provide at no cost countless hours of volunteerism and a host of health-related programs,” said HANYS President Daniel Sisto. “The Above and Beyond book serves as a catalogue of the services New York State’s hospitals provide to help make their communities healthier, safer, and happier places to live, work, and thrive.”
Above and Beyond: The Community Service and Volunteerism of New York State’s Hospitals is available online at www.hanys.org in the “Hot Topics” box.
HANYS, the only statewide hospital and continuing care association in New York State, represents more than 550 non-profit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and other health care organizations.
