Statement From Healthcare Association Of New York State (HANYS) President Daniel Sisto On The
Institute For Healthcare Improvement (IHI) 100,000 Lives Campaign
“New York State’s hospitals save thousands of lives every day, and no professionals are more committed than health care providers to constantly improving their knowledge and practices. Appropriately, no profession has a greater obligation to identify problems and work aggressively to correct them.
“New York’s hospitals approached the IHI 100,000 Lives initiative the same way they approach every opportunity to improve patient care—they embraced it, aggressively pursued it, and succeeded. This is just the latest in a never-ending series of efforts our hospitals engage in daily to provide better care to their patients. Whether it is the IHI Campaign, other national or regional quality improvement efforts, ongoing staff training, medical symposia, or simple staff-to-staff sharing of knowledge and techniques, New York’s health care providers have continually pursued more effective approaches to treatment. And they won’t ever stop trying to get better.”
HANYS, the only statewide hospital and continuing care advocacy association in New York State, represents more than 550 not-for-profit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and other health care organizations.
