HANYS announces 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Development Scholarship recipients
As part of the Healthcare Association of New York State’s ongoing effort to improve health equity and with support from the Milbank Foundation, HANYS is pleased to announce our latest Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Development Scholarship recipients.
Awarded a scholarship for The Academy for Healthcare Leadership Advancement, in collaboration with Cornell University:
- Tonya Richards, PHR, CDP, SHRM-CP, CHHR, VP, Human Resources Operations and Organizational Development, Maimonides Health
- Saema Khandakar, MD, Attending, Pediatric Hospitalist, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County
Awarded a scholarship for the eCornell Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate Program
- Anuradha Iyer, MA, MS, CJCP, CPHQ, Senior Director of Quality Management, The Brooklyn Hospital Center
- Thaina R. Pierre, DO, Chief Equity Officer, Patient Safety Officer, NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst
- Sheniece L. Martin-Stancil-El, DNP, RN, CNL, Nursing Director for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, University of Rochester Medical Center

We look forward to seeing them continue to develop their leadership skills and continue to make positive impacts on their communities.”
HANYS is committed to systematically and intentionally closing economic, age, racial, gender, ability and other health gaps in every New York community. Closing these gaps enables individuals to achieve optimal health through the delivery of equitable health services. We expect to issue our next call for applications for our Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Development Scholarship in spring 2024.
