About the Health Care Proxy
New York health care proxy law allows individuals to appoint someone they trust to decide about medical treatment if the individual loses the ability to make these decisions. This can be accomplished using a health care proxy to appoint a “health care agent.” Hospitals, doctors, and other health care facilities are legally required to obey decisions of the agent.
