Job Opportunities:

Summer Intern

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a temporary intern for the summer season (mid-May through late August) to assist and support the Economics Finance and Information division. This opportunity is ideal for a college student seeking an internship in the healthcare industry related to finance, accounting and working with data sets. Schedule: Twenty hours/week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.

Responsibilities will include gathering, coding, entering, and verifying data from hospitals' annual audited financial statement filings and NYS health insurer's quarterly managed care financial filings into Excel worksheets and Access databases. This position requires working with confidential member financial and statistical data and adhering to HANYS' data security policies and procedures.

Successful candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in accounting or finance. Knowledge of finance and financial issues as they relate to audited financial statements is preferred. Familiarity with financial and statistical programs, specifically Excel and Access, is required.

Staff Accountant

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking an Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Finance, this position is primarily responsible for providing accounting and financial analysis in a multi-company environment, including:

  • Processing bi-weekly payroll and related analysis,
  • Invoicing members and clients in accordance with product agreements,
  • Recording monthly accounting entries and variance analysis.
  • Maintaining schedules for prepaid expenses, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and participating in the preparation of the annual budget.

If you are detail oriented, highly organized, analytical, have a customer service orientation with strong communication skills and in-depth experience with Excel, we encourage you to apply.

  • Associate's degree in Accounting required (Bachelor's strongly preferred).
  • Two to four years of related experience.

Network Analyst

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Network Analyst.

The position holds primary responsibility for our network infrastructure including physical and virtual servers, SAN storage, network monitoring software, various operating systems, information security, connectivity, telecommunications, as well as other components of our infrastructure.

This position has shared responsibility for responding to help desk tickets including troubleshooting, documenting, repairing, and identifying any broad system failures/opportunities.

The successful candidate will be technically proficient and strong in customer service delivery while demonstrating a high level of professionalism, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment and under pressure is required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 year's information technology background in a Help Desk or Network Analyst role and at least one year in a Microsoft network server environment (Windows and Exchange 2008 preferred)
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification(s).
  • Working knowledge and experience supporting Apple Mac OS X, Apple iOS (for IPad), Linux and Unix a plus!

Application Support Representivitive, Data Products

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking an Application Support Representative for the Health Information Management (HIM) Data Products.

This position holds primary responsibility for supporting two software products used in hospital Health Information Departments. Principal duties include working directly with clients on application technical support, software installation, and configuration. This includes SQL Database maintenance, working with different types of data file interfaces, and data manipulation.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong degree of professionalism with advanced skills in: communication, problem resolution, customer service delivery, interpersonal and presentation skills (including customer training). If you have prior client support experience with competencies in troubleshooting data processes and product software support, we encourage you to apply.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience supporting a HIM application.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL databases; thorough understanding of relational databases strong data analytical skills required;
  • Proficiency with PC-based software such as Excel, Word as well as experience with Windows operating systems. Experience with Access, Visual Basic (VBA), a plus.

Sr. Network Analyst

Job Posting – Sr. Network Analyst

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Senior Network Analyst to join our Information Services (IS) team. Reporting to the Associate Director, IS Operations, this position is primarily responsible for providing maintenance, support, and administration of HANYS networks, network attached peripherals, personal computing devices and electronic communications equipment. Monitors and responds to HANYS Help Desk tickets. Provides support and training for junior Operations staff.

The successful candidate will be not only technically proficient but equally strong in customer service delivery, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills as well as:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years information technology background with 2-3 years experience as a Network Analyst.
  • Three years experience in a Microsoft network server environment required - Windows 2008 and Exchange 2008 preferred.
  • Current Certified Network Administrator (CNA) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certificate required.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) highly desirable.
  • Proven understanding of communications and networking technologies.
  • Proven competency in configuring, implementing, and maintaining a high availability network environment.

Investment Research Analyst - HANYS Employee Benefit Services

HANYS Benefit Services (HBS), a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, is seeking a full-time Investment Research Analyst. This position reports to the Vice President, Retirement and Investment Services, and is primarily responsible for enhancing client services, improving information flow, and communicating investment information internally and externally. Key aspects of the position include:

  • Providing investment research and portfolio modeling for consulting advisory services
  • Presenting investment performance to retirement plan sponsors at periodic plan reviews
  • Making recommendations for plan sponsor clients by identifying and establishing objectives, and identifying appropriate mutual fund choices
  • Collecting data, researching, evaluating, and modeling investment opportunities, mutual funds, and various investment securities
  • Performing investment performance analyses to assess the fund performance against established benchmarks and industry standards, inside and outside of the HBS Mutual Fund Program
  • Acting as a resource to internal members of the team (Account Managers, Retirement Services, Sales and Marketing Group, and others) to provide requested research, monitoring, and analysis

  • Excellent customer contact/service and organizational skills required
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to handle assigned tasks in established time frames with maturity and accuracy
  • Experience in account management, preferably with institutional/group relationships
  • 10%-20% travel in New York State and New England with occasional overnights as required
