Account Manager - Retirement Services

HANYS Benefit Services (HBS), a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, is seeking a full-time Account Manager. HBS is a well-established, institutional retirement plan and employee benefits advisor . Client retirement plan assets exceed $4.6 billion, with a majority of our clients located in New York State. The Account Manager – Retirement Services position reports to the VP, Investment and Retirement Services, HBS and is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the client relationship for the purpose of business retention, revenue growth, and overall client satisfaction. Key aspects of the position include:

  • Provides a high level of customer service to retirement plan clients (we define our client as the employer/retirement plan sponsor).
  • Supervises staff in the performance of all responsibilities including employee education and enrollment activities within client facilities

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree plus three to five years of related experience required (Bachelor's preferred).
  • New York State Life and Health license and FINRA 6 & 63 required or obtained within three months post hire.
  • Must have the ability and confidence to present, work, and build relationships with senior level staff and be able to provide consultative value to client from a global and strategic perspective.
  • Must be a self-starter who is motivated, enthusiastic, and has exceptional human relations and long-term relationship building skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, possess good analytical, oral and written communication skills, including frequent presentations to retirement plan committees, and work well under pressure.
  • Daily travel within assigned territory.

Database Programmer

DataGen, a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Database Programmer. DataGen offers a variety of health care data analytics, software solutions, and support to individual hospitals, state hospital and health care associations, and multi-state health care systems. This position reports to the Sr. Director and is primarily responsible for:

  • Managing the daily activities with regard to loading and maintaining financial and clinical databases;
  • Developing and maintaining programs to support the proper function and access to databases;
  • Developing and maintaining programs to support DataGen's analytic products.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong degree of professionalism with advanced skills in communication as well as the ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision, to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make substantive contributions to division and organization excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred with at least 2 years of programming/database experience in a multi-terabyte environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle SQLLDR and experience loading large volumes of data from heterogenous sources are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relational database (Oracle DB or SQL DB) design and proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and Microsoft Excel application scripting (macro programming with VBA) is required.
  • Experience developing within the framework of HIPAA/FISMA compliance regulations required.
  • Full system development life cycle (SDLC) experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Data Integrator or other formal ETL tool (i.e. Cognos, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Informatica) preferred.
  • Additional relevant programming languages (Visual Basic, Java, ColdFusion, C, C#, C++, HTML/XHTML) are desirable.
  • Familiarity with health care data (Medicare and Medicaid) is a plus.

Programmer/Analyst

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Programmer/Analyst for our DataGen team, a HANYS Solutions company. DataGen offers a variety of healthcare data analytics, software solutions, and support to individual hospitals, state hospital and healthcare associations, and multi-state healthcare systems. This position is a great opportunity for an individual interested in building a significant career in quantitative health policy.

This position reports to the Senior Director with key responsibility to:

  • Review, analyze, create, and modify programming systems including requirements gathering, encoding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs
  • Develop and maintain database program code
  • Create, analyze, review, and modify software models (including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation)
  • Maintain and develops software programs, add-ins, and/or models to enhance user experience for DataGen's products and services
  • Understand all of the division's healthcare databases and develop queries/programs to extract and manipulate data for analysis
  • Anticipate future team and client needs and proactively seek solutions for improved productivity and user experience

The successful candidate will have strong abilities in: translating written problems into algorithmic solutions; interpreting given specifications to independently/effectively complete programming and analytical tasks; and interacting with staff and clients to collaboratively clarify specifications and creatively problem-solve.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, or higher level degree preferred, with at least 15 credit hours of computer science. (Credits earned towards a Bachelor's degree may be applied towards the Associate's degree requirement.)
  • Two or more years of computer programming experience in a professional environment.
  • < li>Proficiency in SQL, Visual Basic (VBA and VB.Net), C#, and Microsoft Excel (including macro programming and file import/export) is essential
  • Experience with XML and MS Access is preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment while managing multiple priorities

Investment Research Analyst - HANYS Employee Benefit Services

HANYS Benefit Services (HBS), a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, is seeking a full-time Investment Research Analyst. This position reports to the Vice President, Retirement and Investment Services, and is primarily responsible for enhancing client services, improving information flow, and communicating investment information internally and externally. Key aspects of the position include:

  • Providing investment research and portfolio modeling for consulting advisory services
  • Presenting investment performance to retirement plan sponsors at periodic plan reviews
  • Making recommendations for plan sponsor clients by identifying and establishing objectives, and identifying appropriate mutual fund choices
  • Collecting data, researching, evaluating, and modeling investment opportunities, mutual funds, and various investment securities
  • Performing investment performance analyses to assess the fund performance against established benchmarks and industry standards, inside and outside of the HBS Mutual Fund Program
  • Acting as a resource to internal members of the team (Account Managers, Retirement Services, Sales and Marketing Group, and others) to provide requested research, monitoring, and analysis

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder, or candidate, with only Level III remaining

  • Copywriting experience
  • Excellent customer contact/service and organizational skills required
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to handle assigned tasks in established time frames with maturity and accuracy
  • Experience in account management, preferably with institutional/group relationships
  • 10%-20% travel in New York State and New England with occasional overnights as required
