Part-time Administrative Assistant
The Rochester Office of HANYS Benefit Services, a subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join the team. This position reports to the Account Manager and provides general administrative support to the office. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The successful candidate will be a self-starting, service-oriented professional who is able to take direction from various members of management while working in a fast-paced environment and remaining focused on deadlines. This position reports to the Managing Executive/President, HBS and is primarily responsible for directing the Employee Benefit Services Division to meet overall strategic financial and client service goals by:
- Managing all aspects of the client relationship (Administrator level or higher) for the purposes of business retention, revenue growth and overall client satisfaction.
- Assisting in the sales and marketing of all insured HBS and SBS employee benefit products and services with a specific focus on group health plans.

Sr. Research Data Analyst
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking a Sr. Research Data Analyst for our DataGen Group, a HANYS Solutions company. DataGen offers a variety of software solutions, health care data analytics and support to state hospital and health care associations and a number of multi-state health care systems. DataGen's products and expertise are used by more than 85% of the nation's hospitals and health care systems.
This position is a growth opportunity for an individual interested in building a significant career in quantitative health policy. The primary responsibility is to conduct research and data analysis on healthcare financial, economic, clinical, quality and operational issues to support policy modeling, product development, consulting projects and/or grant-funded projects. Analyses include written and verbal summaries with charts, graphs and reports using current accepted methodologies and software tools. Additionally, the position researches policy issues and translates findings into the development of analytic products and services to enhance the healthcare continuum of care.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree and/or experience in a data analytics field such as statistics, epidemiology, mathematics or finance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (writing formulas and graphing) and SAS

Primary Care Medical Records Chart Abstractor
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is currently seeking a full- time Primary Care Medical Records Chart Abstractor for The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). This position reports to the Program Manager, Quality Initiatives and is responsible for providing member primary care sites with the sampling and medical record abstraction component related to the DRP, as well as providing supplemental reinforcement on sampling techniques, electronic data options, and NCQA DRP requirements.
Our ideal candidate will have the flexibility to travel to primary care sites throughout New York State (with occasional overnights) to sample and report medical records chart data efficiently and accurately. S/he will maintain a clear understanding of the NCQA DRP data submission requirements to complete chart abstraction (via paper, hybrid and/or electronic) that meets the unique needs of each primary care site in the DRP .
Qualifications:
- LPN or equivalent clinical professional with a minimum of two years of related, education, coding and medical terminology knowledge and experience
- Proven track record in primary care medical records chart abstraction
- navigate data collection system and software and maintain accurate data entry
- work independently or within a team environment
- maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Program Managers

We are seeking three:
- Statewide Hospital Quality Program Manager – Rochester
- Statewide Hospital Quality Program Manager – Newburgh
- Statewide Hospital Quality Program Manager – New York State Rural Hospitals (based in Rensselaer, NY)
Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Quality Initiatives, these newly created positions support the NYS Partnership for Patients (PfP) program through CMS. The PfP is a public-private partnership that will offer support to NYS hospitals to make patient care safer and to support effective transitions of patients from hospitals to other settings.
The role of the Program Manager will be to act as a primary liaison to assigned hospital members in the Partnership for Patients (PfP) initiative by directing day-to-day program activities and providing routine in person and telephone support, education and assistance including:
- Providing direct and supplemental education using the collaborative model.
- Sharing evidence-based practices and techniques to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions.
- Serving as a subject matter expert of and educator for TeamSTEPPS, culture and safety issues.
- Coordinating services and participants including NYS PfP and national webinars, educational resources, regional meetings, site visits and presentations.
- Coaching, consulting and enthusiastically mentoring to support active engagement toward continuous improvement goals.
- Employing troubleshooting techniques to assist in reaching improved outcomes.
- Acting as a partner for change implementation.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required in a related field or a BS in Nursing with two years minimum experience in a hospital; Proven track record as a leader in quality improvement, patient safety, hospital operations practices and consulting; Demonstrated proficiency in establishing and maintaining key relationships; Strong project management and organizational skills; Ability to problem-solve and mentor to provide effective problem resolution solutions; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to understand, apply and educate on basic quality improvement statistics and reports; Flexibility to travel in the assigned region (typically up to three days per week); Basic skills in Microsoft Office, Excel and technology systems for data and web conferencing.
