Introduction to Medicaid
December 9, 2009
10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., EST
There has been a transformation in New York State Medicaid reimbursement over the last year. Introduction to Medicaid will provide hospital staff with an understanding of the basics of the new Medicaid hospital payment systems, including inpatient reimbursement, diagnosis related groups (DRGs), outpatient Ambulatory Patient Groups (APGs), indigent care pool distributions, and other reimbursement methodologies. In addition, it will explore Medicaid’s relationship to state and local government budgets, and the political interaction between states and the federal government as it pertains to Medicaid funding.
A third hour has been added to this program to provide an introduction to All Patient Refined DRGs (APR-DRGs). APR-DRGs are slated to be the driving force behind Medicaid reimbursement reform scheduled for implementation on December 1.
