The Electronic Death Registration System; An Introduction to a New Way of Reporting Death
August 5, 2015
10 - 11 a.m
The Department of Health (DOH) has developed a new Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) to streamline the process of collecting, storing, transmitting, amending, and authenticating information related to deaths in New York. DOH will describe this new system and discuss implementation during this webinar.
A state law passed in 2013 directed DOH to design the new electronic system to replace the paper forms that are handled by multiple stakeholders responsible for contributing and approving different pieces of information on death certificates.
This newly developed EDRS will handle death registrations throughout New York State, excluding New York City, which has a separate system.
