Addressing the Challenge of Sepsis Coding

September 21, 2015
Webinar

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Hospitals across the country are preparing for the transition to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) Version 10, the first update to ICD since 1979.

Many New York State hospitals will use ICD-10 codes to identify sepsis cases for review and reporting to the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Inpatient Quality Reporting Program. DOH is currently reviewing hospital sepsis data, and has been working with hospitals to understand the differences between SPARCS data and clinical data reported to the Sepsis Data Portal.

This webinar will review the changes to the ICD codes as they relate to severe sepsis and septic shock and will provide strategies for improving identification of reportable cases.
