HANYS Cyber Security Webinar: Phishing Exercises with Global Cyber Alliance

October 26, 2016

10-11 a.m.

This is a HANYS-Member Only Event.

This webinar is sponsored by HANYS Health Information Technology (HIT) Strategy Group—a group of HANYS’ member chief information officer and chief medical informatics officers from around the state, Co-Chaired by David Mendelson, M.D., The Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Matthew Shafiroff, M.D., Stellaris Health. This cybersecurity session is offered as part of a series of educational programs on cybersecurity for hospitals and health systems.

In this session you will be given the opportunity to sign up for free phishing exercises hosted by our partner, Global Cyber Alliance (GCA). HANYS-GCA will formally roll-out the details of these valuable phishing exercises and how your hospital can sign up to take advantage of this opportunity. Specifically, GCA will explain two cyber risk solutions that will be offered to you, that can help protect your hospital/health system:

  • Email Authentication Through DMARC - The simple, trusted solution that brings together email authentication protocols and adds reporting and compliance. GCA has developed a guide to walk your organization through the steps to implement Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) to protect your organization from phishing.
  • Community Immunity—A DNS-based Solution - GCA is building a global any-cast open recursive privacy-enabled Domain Name Server (DNS) infrastructure. This solution uses multiple threat intelligence feeds from the security industry’s leading threat intel providers to block DNS resolutions to known malicious domains, to offer a highly effective layer of protection. This type of DNS-based filtering is a method that will reduce risk to individuals and an organization’s network and its endpoints by leveraging the role that DNS plays in the network.

We strongly encourage you to attend, as hospitals and health systems are facing significant cybersecurity risks that continue to evolve.

Featured Speakers

  • HANYS’ cyber security consultants, CyberWA, led by Will Pelgrin, former President of the Center for Internet Security, Founder of MS-ISAC, and Chair of the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA), of which HANYS is a member.

About the Global Cyber Alliance
GCA is an international, cross-sector effort dedicated to confronting systemic cyber risk and improving our connected world. It is a catalyst to bring communities of interest and affiliations together in an environment that sparks innovation with concrete, measureable achievements. While most efforts at addressing cyber risk have been industry, sector, or geographically specific, GCA partners across borders and sectors. GCA’s mantra “Do Something. Measure It.” is a direct reflection of its mission to eradicate systemic cyber risks. GCA, a 501(c)3 entity, was founded in September 2015 by the New York County District Attorney’s Office, the City of London Police, and the Center for Internet Security
