Introduction to Quality

November 10 & 17, 2010

1:00 - 3:00 p.m. both days, EST

Introduction to Quality is designed to help hospital quality improvement team members understand and use data effectively to monitor and improve the quality of care.

The success of your organization’s quality improvement efforts depends on your ability to measure quality improvement progress. Introduction to Quality examines descriptive statistical techniques used in the identification, display, and analysis of data; performance improvement processes; and outcome measure analysis. It will also provide the latest on the proposed hospital Inpatient Medicare Prospective Payment System for 2012, which includes major changes that will expand quality data reporting requirements and force providers to use additional data submission mechanisms.

Who should attend

  • All members of quality improvement team;
  • Staff responsible for communicating quality to the media and public; and
  • Government affairs staff.

What you will learn

At the conclusion of this program, participants will:

  • identify the implications of quality data in the current regulatory, accountability, and reimbursement environment;
  • have command of the basic technical skills and data tools required to effectively design and evaluate quality improvement findings; and
  • be able to clearly communicate quality improvement findings to team members, administrative staff, and your governing board.
