Introduction to Understanding Administrative Data and Case Mix

With Medicare regulations and coding rules always changing, staying current with this complex, cumbersome, and ever-evolving reimbursement system can be a challenge. The recent move to using Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs) was the most drastic change in decades, and presents new data analysis challenges. This Webconference will explain how to use and compare data to anticipate cash flow.

  • Anyone involved in analyzing hospital data.

What you will learn

At the conclusion of this program, participants will:

  • have command of the data collected and reported to SPARCS;
  • understand the similarities and differences between the CMS and New York State grouping methodologies and how they affect DRG assignment;
  • understand DRG methodologies to more effectively compare and evaluate cases;
  • understand how various administrative data can be used to evaluate hospital operations, including comparison to other facilities both locally and nationally; and
  • identify limitations of comparisons to understand the pitfalls and benefits of certain methodologies.

Registration Deadline/Cancellation

Registration Deadline is 09/16/2009. Cancellations less a 25% cancellation fee will be accepted until 09/14/2009. Cancellations after that time are not eligible for a refund. Substitutions are always encouraged even at the last minute.
