EFM Case Study Review and Ask the Expert

November 8, 2011

Noon - 1 p.m.

This fall, New York State’s Obstetric Safety Initiative is pleased to offer a two-part Webconference series on electronic fetal Mmonitoring (EFM) standardization, interpretation, and management presented by expert clinical faculty. These Webconferences are designed to educate obstetric teams on how to interpret, communicate, and manage fetal heart rate tracings using a standardized nomenclature and an EFM management model.

The first Webconference, EFM Standardization, Interpretation, and Management, will be held October 12, from 1 - 4 p.m. and requires separate registration. It will be recorded in case you missed it.

New York State’s Obstetric Safety Initiative, a collaboration among HANYS, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, (ACOG) District II and the New York State Department of Health (DOH), and funded by the New York State Health Foundation, has received a grant extension until the end of 2011. This extension will allow HANYS to offer a two-part Webconference series this fall on EFM, as well as make a limited amount of funds available to reimburse obstetric providers for the registration costs associated with the NCC EFM subspecialty exam.

The Obstetric Safety Initiative will also offer a limited number of obstetric providers reimbursement to take the National Certification Corporation’s (NCC) EFM subspecialty exam, which gauges obstetric practitioners’ competency in EFM interpretation and management. To take advantage of the opportunity to receive reimbursement for the NCC EFM exam, members must sign up via an online survey September 19 to express their interest. Participants will be notified via e-mail when the sign-up is available and requests for reimbursement will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

A final report from the two-year quality improvement initiative, including its successes and lessons learned, is available online.
