State Adopting National Trauma Center Designation Standards

June 11, 2013

3 - 4 p.m.

Available to HANYS Members Only

HANYS is partnering with the Department of Health (DOH) to present aWebconference on DOH’s transition to the American College of Surgeon’s Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT) standards and verification process for the state’s trauma system.

Facilities currently designated as either regional trauma centers or area trauma centers, or any hospitals interested in entering the trauma system for the first time, are invited to participate in this Webconference, as DOH’s goal is to strengthen and broaden participation.

Adopting the ACS-COT standards and verification process will change trauma center designation requirements in New York State. DOH communicated this decision to hospitals through a series of "Dear Administrator” letters beginning in March 2012.

The Webconference will provide details on the implementation of this transition and will be followed by a question and answer session for interested hospitals.
