Antibiotic Stewardship Basics

October 2, 2014

This Webinar is for HANYS' Members Only.

11 a.m. - noon

Antibiotic stewardship is a priority for New York State hospitals, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified the disease burden and mortality associated with drug-resistant bacteria.

Although implementing successful antibiotic stewardship programs can require a significant infusion of resources, hospitals are able to take steps to improve patient care and outcomes. In an effort to assist New York hospitals in their ongoing efforts to use the most appropriate antibiotics and reduce the potential for drug-resistant infections, HANYS’ Antibiotic Stewardship Advisory Committee is offering the first in a series of programs dedicated to this issue.

The program will include an overview of the concepts of antibiotic stewardship; tools, and resources; and an example of a cross-facility partnership that has improved patient care and outcomes.

In the coming months, HANYS will continue to offer additional programs in this area. Resources have also been posted to the HANYS website.
