OIG Board Compliance Guidelines

Healthcare Trustees of New York State will host this complimentary webinar to address new guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) on board compliance oversight. HANYS’ General Counsel, Mark Thomas, will discuss key components of the educational resource and provide a federal and state governance update. During the webinar, trustees will learn key elements of the guidance issued by OIG on April 20, including practical ideas and processes that boards may consider implementing to carry out oversight of their hospital’s compliance program.

The OIG guidance discusses five topic areas:

• board oversight responsibilities;
• roles and duties of various management functions;
• communications with, and reports to, the board;
• identifying potential risk areas; and
• encouraging accountability and compliance.
