The Payers’ Claims Submission & Adjudication Process: How Does It Impact Your Nursing Home?

June 9, 2015

This event is open to HANYS' Members Only.

11 a.m. - noon

Andrea Hagen, Director, Bonadio Receivable Solutions, LLC, will present The Payers’ Claims Submission & Adjudication Process: How Does It Impact Your Nursing Home? This webinar will help nursing homes better understand what part of the claims payment process they have control over and how they can minimize a negative impact on cash flow as healthcare payments shift away from fee-for-service. Traditionally, nursing homes have received most of their revenue from Medicare and Medicaid fee-for-service payments. As more Medicaid individuals are being required to enroll in a managed care plan, nursing homes will see a shift in their resident population away from fee for service. This webinar will cover the payers’ claim adjudication process and what nursing homes can do to ensure their claims continue to get paid correctly and in a timely manner to minimize the negative impact on revenue cycle.

New permanently-placed nursing home residents in New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties are currently required to enroll in a managed care plan. In July, this requirement will apply throughout New York State and in October, current nursing home residents will be able to voluntarily enroll in a managed care plan.

Additional details about the nursing home transition to managed care can be found in HANYS’ Reimbursement Issue Paper (19S Nursing Home Transition to Managed Care).
