Bookmark and Share

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the latest numbers on providers that have successfully attested and received payment for the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs.  The Medicare incentive figures, through February 2012, show that in New York State 24 hospitals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid incentives have drawn down Medicare incentive payments totaling $50.5 million. Nationwide, 796 hospitals have received Medicare incentive payments, an increase from 712 hospitals through January 2012.

New York State launched its Medicaid incentive program at the end of calendar year 2011.  CMS data show that 24 hospitals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive payments have drawn down $32.8 million in Medicaid first year, “adopt, implement or upgrade” (AIU) payments through February 2012.  Nationally, 1,559 hospitals have drawn down Medicaid AIU.  Some of these hospitals may also have drawn down Medicare payments.

In total, hospitals nationwide have received $1.8 billion in Medicaid AIU payments and $2 billion in Medicare meaningful use payments through February 2012.  Contact: Susan Van Meter
