HANYS Plans Annual Federal Briefing and Congressional Advocacy Day in April

Bookmark and Share

Registration is underway for HANYS’ Annual Federal Briefing and Congressional Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C., on April 28 and 29. HANYS will hold this event in conjunction with the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Annual Membership Meeting.

HANYS encourages members to participate. In addition to the growing momentum in Washington, D.C., to achieve health care reform this year, proposals that could significantly redefine how hospitals and other health care providers are reimbursed were included in President Obama’s budget outline. These complex proposals, steps the Obama Administration believes will improve the quality and efficiency in the health care delivery system, are the first of what will likely be many health care reform proposals that could affect hospital and health care systems. Understanding these and other health reform proposals and describing their affect on institutions will become increasingly important as the health care reform debate moves forward.

Details of HANYS’ Annual Federal Briefing and Congressional Advocacy Day

April 28: In the afternoon, HANYS will host a briefing on federal advocacy issues including the federal budget and health care reform. That evening, HANYS’ members are invited to join the multi-state networking dinner hosted by HANYS and the state hospital/health care associations of California, Connecticut, Michigan, and Tennessee. The featured speaker will be Bill Press, host of the syndicated radio program, The Bill Press Show. Mr. Press, the former co-host of MSNBC’s Buchanan and Press, CNN’s Crossfire, and The Spin Room, has built a national reputation on thought-provoking and humorous insight from the left side of the political aisle.

April 29: HANYS’ members are encouraged to visit their congressional representatives as part of HANYS’ Congressional Advocacy Day. On behalf of New York’s allied associations, HANYS will coordinate visits with members of the New York State Congressional Delegation. Please use the registration form to request an office visit with members of the Delegation.

Please note that HANYS’ registration is separate from the AHA Annual Membership Meeting registration.
