For Immediate Release:
Statement by Bea Grause, President of HANYS, Regarding Enactment of the
2017-18 State Budget
“The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) commends Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers for their leadership in producing a final state fiscal year 2017-2018 budget that recognizes the needs of patients across the state and of the healthcare facilities that provide care in our communities.
The final New York State budget agreement makes important investments in New York’s healthcare infrastructure through the new Health Care Facility Transformation Program, provides support for financially-struggling hospitals, and takes important steps toward adequate Medicaid payment for medical services provided.
Our non-profit hospitals and health systems face many serious challenges in today’s uncertain environment as they strive to provide high-quality care to New Yorkers in communities across the state. While there is much more work to be done, we appreciate that the Governor and legislative leaders are supporting healthcare providers as we continue to transform and pursue the triple aim of better health, better care, and lower costs.
We look forward to working with Governor Cuomo and Legislature in the coming year to strengthen our healthcare system, and move ahead with modernizing regulations to better serve all New Yorkers.
