HANYS Events during AHA 2019 Annual Meeting

April 7-9, 2019
Washington, DC

Registration for this event is open to HANYS Members only.

Join HANYS for a series of events April 8-9 in Washington, DC, to hear from experts on the politics of healthcare and engage with the New York congressional delegation. Our events will be held at Marriott Marquis in downtown Washington, DC, starting with a federal media panel on Monday, April 8, at 5 p.m. and ending with a Federal Advocacy Day on Tuesday, April 9.

We are holding our federal advocacy events in conjunction with the American Hospital Association’s Annual Membership Meeting (April 7-10). Please note that AHA’s meeting requires separate registration.

Monday, April 8: Join us for an off-the-record conversation with national political and healthcare reporters

The Politics of Healthcare panel, moderated by former New York Congressman Tim Bishop, will feature national political and healthcare reporters, including Susannah Luthi, Modern Healthcare; Noam Levey, Los Angeles Times; Victoria Oliver, Politico; and Caitlin Huey-Burns, CBS News. Read more about our speakers.

We are hosting this panel in partnership with our colleagues at the California Hospital Association, Illinois Health and Hospital Association, and Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.

Immediately following the panel, we invite you to join your fellow hospital executives from New York and Pennsylvania for a reception at the Marriott Marquis.

Tuesday, April 9: HANYS Federal Advocacy Day

Upon request, HANYS will arrange meetings with the members of the New York congressional delegation. These meetings provide you the opportunity to tell your story to your representatives in Washington.

We encourage you to explain to your representatives the challenges you face in your mission to provide quality care to your patients. We also urge you to deliver key messages on top advocacy priorities such as mitigating Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital cuts that are scheduled to take effect Oct. 1. Advocacy materials are available online.
