Join us for Sharing PHI with Patients and their Caregivers: The HIPAA Privacy Rule, a team-based workshop incorporating interactive discussions with brief presentations on the issues, opportunities, and challenges of ensuring patient and caregiver access to personal health information (PHI), while remaining compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This program is funded through a grant from the New York State Health Foundation and is offered in collaboration with the Western New York Healthcare Association.

Workshop participants will learn to:

  • share effective strategies to facilitate patients’ and their caregivers’ access to PHI;
  • develop practical and effective solutions to shared common problems in balancing patient access to PHI with HIPAA and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act compliance; and
  • identify policy changes that will ease the balance of PHI access and protection from risk.

Registration
Registration is free and includes breakfast and lunch on the day of the program.

The workshop registration deadline is Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
