HANYS/Allied Association State Budget Briefing
January 23,24,25,30 & February 8
Various Locations
- In his State of the State address, Governor Andrew Cuomo painted a dire fiscal picture, saying “We have federal and economic challengesnever experienced before . . . . In the short term, we face a $4 billion deficit and $2 billion in cuts in federal aid . . . .”
- We anticipate a difficult state budget. We will need strong collective advocacy. Healthcare providers are at risk in this fiscal environment. There will be intense competition (particularly with education) for limited resources. Election year pressures, combined with the uncertainty at the federal level, heighten the complexity of this year’s budget.
- What can you do now? Plan to participate in our joint budget briefings and March 7 Advocacy Day (see details below). You should also plan now to meet with your state legislators locally in the districts.
?Budget Briefings:
HANYS strongly encourages chief executive officers, governmental affairs representatives, financial officers, operating officers, public relations directors, and any other interested staff to participate in the budget briefings that HANYS and the allied associations will host to detail the impact of Governor Cuomo’s proposed state budget, which he will release on January 16.
The briefings will be held in every region of the state and will cover advocacy strategies and budget details.
Please plan to participate as these briefings provide an excellent opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the substance and politics and advocacy needs. Please register using the contact information in the chart below.
