Thursday, December 13: Improving Buprenorphine Induction and Monitoring in Hospital and Outpatient Settings
Featured Presenter: Samuel T. Stroupe, MD, MS, FAPA, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Deputy Chief, Director, Psychiatric Emergency Services & Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn Psychiatry Service; and Anthony J. Accurso, MD, Primary Care and Addiction Medicine, Diplomate of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine at Sunset Terrace Family Health Center, NYU Langone Medical Center

This webinar will provide an overview of the clinical collaboration between the inpatient/ED and outpatient settings to improve buprenorphine induction and monitoring at NYU Langone Health. It will provide a brief background on the ways in which the opioid crisis is affecting the communities served in Southwest Brooklyn, where NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Center networks in the nation, are located. The presenters, Samuel T. Stroupe, MD, MS, FAPA, and Anthony J. Accurso, MD, serve on the front lines of the opioid epidemic in hospital and outpatient settings, respectively. They will share insights and strategies from their close hospital-outpatient collaboration to ensure that patients can be effectively transitioned from buprenorphine induction to monitoring.

During this webinar, participants will learn about:

  • practical strategies for inducting patients on to buprenorphine in the ED and inpatient setting; and
  • approaches for monitoring in the outpatient setting.
