Webinar

Noon - 1 p.m.

Registration is open to HANYS Members and Non-Members.

HANYS’ Statewide Opioid Addiction Prevention and Management Collaborative supports members’ efforts to improve the delivery of care to patients experiencing opioid addiction and manage the care of patients with substance use disorders. Our Opioid Lunch and Learn sessions focus on key themes identified through member feedback in the regional roundtable sessions, including alternative pain management, coordination of care, data implications, stigma, and prescribing practices and protocols.

Thursday, February 14, 2019, noon - 1 p.m. It Takes a Collaborative Approach: Northeast Ohio Hospital Opioid Consortium and University Hospitals’ Approach to Combat the Opioid Epidemic: Randy M. Jernejcic, MD, MMM Vice President of Clinical Integration, University Hospitals

This presentation will provide information on how University Hospitals of Cleveland partnered with the four other health systems in Northeastern Ohio to develop a consortium to focus on the opioid epidemic. Goals of the consortium include setting aside differences to develop and share best practices through a physician-led, multidisciplinary partnership. Dr. Jernejcic will provide information on innovative clinical practices developed at University Hospitals that include a focus on education, leveraging electronic health records, and governance for accountability.

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Learn how competing healthcare systems can collaborate to combat the opioid crisis: challenges and opportunities.
  • Understand the holistic approach taken at University Hospitals in Ohio to advance safe patient management through implementation of evidenced-based practices and a coordinated action plan.
