Thursday, March 14, 2019, Noon - 1 p.m.: Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder: Strategies for Hospital Systems Seeking to Incorporate Buprenorphine Implementation into Clinical Practice: Paul Updike, MD, Medical Director of Substance Use Services, Catholic Health System, Buffalo, NY

Treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) in various healthcare settings can be a challenge. Despite the clear evidence that medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is highly effective, these interventions are commonly underutilized. This presentation will provide you with a better understanding of some of the commonly used models of buprenorphine induction and review practical concerns regarding the use of buprenorphine in various clinical settings.

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • understand common barriers that affect the implementation of MAT
  • explore a range of models used to deliver MAT in a variety of healthcare settings using specific examples from a large healthcare system in Western New York;
  • address challenges and potential solutions for supporting individuals with OUD.
