HANYS Opioid Lunch and Learn Series: Partnering Supports for Buprenorphine Prescribing

HANYS’ Statewide Opioid Addiction Prevention and Management Collaborative supports members’ efforts to improve the delivery of care to patients experiencing opioid addiction and manage the care of patients with substance use disorders. Our Opioid Lunch and Learn sessions focus on key themes identified through member feedback in the regional roundtable sessions, including alternative pain management, coordination of care, data implications, stigma, and prescribing practices and protocols.

Partnering Supports for Buprenorphine Prescribing

• Marissa Lamphere, MST, Broome County opioid overdose prevention coordinator, Broome County Health Department

This webinar will provide an overview of DOH’s Buprenorphine Expanded Access Initiative activities and local health departments' efforts to address the opioid epidemic. The discussion will highlight unique localized efforts such as buprenorphine expansion in emergency departments and corrections, stigma reduction and peer support integration in overdose response. The implementation of the newly launched buprenorphine academic/public health detailing initiative will also be discussed.

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

• identify the activities of the DOH buprenorphine expanded access initiative;
• describe local initiatives of buprenorphine expansion in corrections and emergency departments including stigma reduction and education regarding the utilization of MAT, and peer support integration in overdose response; and
• understand the newly launched DOH buprenorphine academic/public health initiative to increase buprenorphine prescribing across NYS.
