Responding to Combative Individuals and Dangerous Situations in Your Facility

Join us for this one-day workshop for health systems to learn from state and national experts about protecting your care team from violence in the workplace, combative individuals and other dangerous situations Hospitals and health systems are encouraged to bring up to four staff to this hands-on workshop where participants will learn and develop a plan of action that you can implement at your facility.
Agenda:
10 a.m. – Registration and Networking
10:30 - 10:45 a.m. – Introductions
10:45 - 11:45 a.m. — Effective methods, including tools, training and technology to reduce violence at the point of care. This session will explore methods to build proactive programs focused on reducing workplace violence and the regulatory framework related to violence in healthcare facilities.
11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. – Lunch and Networking
12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. – Reduction of Workplace Violence; One Health System's Perspective. EMTs and other off-site healthcare workers are often the first to encounter combative individuals. This session will cover how to handle dangerous situations that arise outside the hospital walls.
1:30 - 2:15 p.m. Develop your action plan. Hospital teams will outline the top three challenges or types of situations (gangs, drug-related, behavioral health, etc.) and develop action steps of a team-based approach to implement upon return to their facilities.
2:15 - 2:45 p.m. – Hospital teams report out plans and methods
2:45 - 3 p.m. – Next steps
