The Hospital Innovation and Lean Network of New York (HILNNY) will host a webinar Dec. 19 on how to leverage Lean approaches to reduce the rate of missing instruments and improve sterile processing department practices.
The hospital SPD provides surgeons with needed instruments and is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and distribution of all instruments used in medical procedures.
Surgeons need the right instruments to be available at the right time and place. Delays associated with misplaced instruments and incomplete sets can contribute to increased operating room time and patient, family, staff and surgeon dissatisfaction.
In this HILNNY webinar, experts from Albany Medical Center will discuss how they used Lean approaches to reduce the rate of missing instruments and improve SPD processes.
