Palliative Care Series - Models of Running a Hospital-Based Consultation Service

November 20, 2014

3 - 4 p.m.

HANYS, with the generous support from the Milbank Foundation for Rehabilitation, is holding this Webinar series for health care providers seeking to initiate or expand access to palliative care for patients, residents, and families.

The number of U.S. hospitals offering palliative care services is growing rapidly. Researchers report that the number of programs in hospitals with 50 or more beds increased from 658 to 1,486, a 125.8% increase from the years 2000 to 2008. Palliative care programs link diverse hospital departments and services for effective and efficient use of hospital resources. This approach results in higher quality, well-planned treatment that anticipates future care needs. This Webinar will discuss initiating or expanding palliative care services in the acute care setting, from large academic to small and rural hospitals.
