Albany Med Fights Childhood Obesity with Innovative Program

In some communities, it's hard to find good nutritional choices and learn about healthy eating. The lack of high-quality food options in low income areas is also a contributing factor to childhood obesity. To address this issue, two physicians from Albany Medical Center developed the Child Advocacy Resident Education (CARE) program to improve access to healthier foods in Albany's South End neighborhood.

Through this innovative program, these physicians established a farmers' market in this urban neighborhood to provide locally grown produce and information about healthy food choices and exercise to inner-city families.
