New York Healthcare Providers Are Reducing Pressure Ulcers

Eighty healthcare providers in New York State are participating in a quality improvement program to develop and implement best practices to improve patient care and reduce pressure ulcers. This Gold STAMP program provides evidence-based resources and education across the continuum of care to improve the assessment, management, and prevention of pressure ulcers.

Healthcare providers participating in the program have seen a 14% reduction in pressure ulcers and there was a $28 million decrease in Medicaid claims for patients with a primary diagnosis of pressure ulcers between SFYs 2011-12 and 2012-13.
