HTNYS’ new social determinants of health primer for trustees
Healthcare Trustees of New York State is providing trustees with a new resource to shift conversation from an acute lens of health intervention to a broader community-based view. Hospitals and health systems continue to serve as hubs for their communities, and, as leaders of those communities, trustees can serve as leaders in addressing unmet health and education needs.
Social Determinants of Health: A Primer for Healthcare Trustees is an educational resource that provides background on what the social determinants of health are and what is happening in New York state. It features examples of how our hospitals and health systems provide community interventions and recommends steps that hospital/system boards can take to incorporate social determinant-focused programming into their respective practice.
