Recently-passed legislation shifts capital awards deadline to Sept. 1

Bookmark and Share

Prior to adjourning the 2019 legislative session, the Legislature passed a bill (S.6616 / A.8434) that would amend several budget provisions included in Capital Projects Article VII legislation that is part of the SFY 2019-2020 enacted budget.

The bill makes a significant change with regard to the deadline by which DOH must award funding pursuant to the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program (Statewide). The budget authorized DOH to award by May 1, 2019, up to $300 million from the third round of funding (Statewide III) to applications previously submitted and not funded under the second round of funding (Statewide II).

Although due on May 1, DOH has not yet announced those awards. The recently-passed legislation would provide that such awards must now be made by Sept. 1, 2019. The legislation has not yet been delivered to the governor for his consideration. Contact: Amy Nickson
