Support Organ and Tissue Donation
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) and Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS) support organ and tissue donation and are committed to raising awareness about the need for life-saving organ donations through policy, advocacy, and other activities.
JOIN: We encourage New Yorkers to take just five minutes to join the modernized New York State Donate Life Registry—it’s now faster, easier, and more user-friendly. By registering, you are giving legal consent for the recovery of organs, tissues, and eyes for the purposes of transplantation and research at the time of death.
LINK: Consider adding a link on your hospital’s website and social media accounts with the call to action “Join the New York State Donate Life Registry” to help spread the word.
PARTICIPATE: We encourage hospitals and health systems to consider utilizing a planning and tracking tool from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Organ Donation Campaign to raise awareness and register donors during Donate Life Month. The Hospital Campaign Scorecard provides ideas for communications and activities to promote organ donation. Hospitals can receive points toward national recognition by using the Scorecard.
. . . .knowing that a part of her son’s body may have been used to save a person’s life or at the very least give them a much better quality of life is a great honor to her and gives her peace.
