Support Organ and Tissue Donation
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) and Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS) support organ and tissue donation and are committed to raising awareness about the need for life-saving organ donations through policy, advocacy, and other activities.
We encourage New Yorkers to join the New York State Donate Life Registry, giving legal consent for the recovery of organs, tissues, and eyes for the purposes of transplantation and research at the time of death.
HANYS’ Member Organ Donation and Transplant Awareness Activities
Strong Memorial Hospital /URMC and its partner Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network shared some of their Donate Life month activities with us.
Donate Life Run/Walk: These adorable children decked out in Donate Life blue and green joined more than 1,000 people to participate in the 16th annual Rochester River Run/Walk 5K event in April to support organ donation and transplant. Nearly $40,000 was raised to directly benefit transplant patients at Strong Memorial Hospital. The event promotes awareness and educates the public about organ donation and it also features a ceremony to honor organ donors, transplant recipients and their families. The mother of some of the costumed children in this picture is a transplant recipient— she received a living donor kidney transplant from a friend.
Organ Donor Enrollment Drive event featured transplant recipients.
