Kaleida Health supports new nurse graduates with NCLEX Prep Program

A strong transition from student to registered professional nurse is essential to long-term workforce stability. As part of its commitment to supporting new graduate nurses, Kaleida Health designed and implemented the NCLEX Prep Program in 2023 to provide comprehensive, structured support to recent graduates and current employees preparing for the National Council Licensure Examination.

Nursing staff can register for this program through human resources referral or self-referral. Any employee, new or veteran, who has graduated from nursing school and is preparing for the NCLEX-RN can self-refer. The program is free for Kaleida Health employees, and they’re paid for their classroom time.

Key program features include:

  • full access to UWorld, a nationally respected NCLEX preparation platform;
  • flexible learning formats, with both in-person and virtual instruction;
  • sixteen specialized classes designed and led by the program’s lead nurse educator, focusing on core content and test-taking strategies; and
  • continuous exam readiness monitoring to track learner progress and provide timely interventions.

In 2023, 208 of 211 (98.6%) NCLEX Prep Program participants passed the NCLEX. In 2024, 181 of 183 (98.9%) passed. Both years demonstrated an impressive pass rate significantly above the national average. By outperforming the national average by approximately 25%, Kaleida Health can retain more new graduate nurses, preserving the strength and stability of its workforce amid a national staffing crisis.
