Joint association survey findings: Policymakers must take action to preserve New Yorkers’ access to care

As illustrated by the results of our latest joint association fiscal survey, New York's hospitals and nursing homes continue to face unrelenting fiscal and workforce challenges that threaten access to patient care. State and federal policymakers must act now to maintain existing vital healthcare funding, bolster the healthcare workforce and enact sensible policy changes that enhance patients’ access to care. Most importantly, state lawmakers must make a multi-year commitment to close the Medicaid funding gap.


Stipend opportunity: Increasing the nursing home CNA workforce pipeline

With support from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, HANYS is offering our member nursing homes the opportunity to apply for a stipend of up to $26,000 to help cover the costs of recruiting, onboarding, certifying and training five new certified nursing assistants. Six stipend recipients will receive $1,000 for CNA recruitment and $5,000 for each of five new CNAs onboarded, certified and trained by Dec. 31. Round 3 applications for GME slots opens

CMS is accepting applications through March 31 for Round 3 of the 200 GME slots required under the Consolidated Appropriations Act for FY2025. The full list of prior recipients is available on the CMS DGME webpage.
