COVID-19 has disproportionately affected New York communities of color.
To better understand the complex factors causing this deadly impact on Black, Latinx and Hispanic populations, researchers at University at Albany led a cross-disciplinary research project which may be used to develop intervention strategies to help mitigate and eliminate disparities, improve health outcomes and save lives.
HANYS is partnering with UAlbany on this virtual series designed to highlight project results and engage healthcare professionals, researchers and community leaders in essential conversations needed to understand and eliminate minority health disparities.
Critical topics covered in this series include:
- mobility restriction and spatial disparities
- vaccine hesitancy;
- public health messaging;
- risk perception;
- the role of community health workers;
- how to serve culturally and linguistically diverse patients;
- maternal, reproductive and child health; and
- behavioral health issues and services.
