Statement from HANYS President Bea Grause, RN, JD, on first COVID-19 vaccinations in New York state

There is light at the end of the tunnel after a long, devastating year. This morning, Sandra Lindsay, an intensive care nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, was the first person vaccinated in New York. Today and throughout this week, hospitals and health systems in New York will begin to vaccinate their high-risk healthcare workers — those who have been on the front lines caring for our most critical patients. Over the coming days, weeks and months, our members will play an essential role in the distribution and administration of COVID-19 vaccines, and HANYS will be here to support their efforts every step of the way.

The Healthcare Association of New York State is the statewide hospital and continuing care association in New York, representing nonprofit and public hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies and other healthcare organizations.
