Statement from HANYS President Bea Grause, RN, JD, on vaccine requirements for healthcare workers in New York state

Our member hospitals, health systems and continuing care providers and their workforce have undertaken heroic efforts to bring this pandemic to its knees, but the fight is still not over. We support the vaccine mandate for hospitals, health systems and continuing care facilities in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep our communities safe.

The CDC has clearly stated the facts: COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death, and they reduce the risk of people spreading the virus. We recognize that hesitancy exists for a variety of reasons but remind everyone that getting vaccinated is an important step to protect you and your loved ones from the serious consequences of COVID-19.
