Innovation Spotlight—St. Peter’s Health Partners Offers Legal Aid for Patients

Patients with serious medical conditions often encounter legal problems that are barriers to their recovery. A year ago, St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP) joined with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York (LASNNY) and Albany Law School to form a “Medical-Legal Partnership” (MLP).

Innovation Spotlight—St. Mary’s Healthcare Promotes Breast and Prostate Cancer Screenings

Regular cancer screenings are integral to maintaining the health of aging populations and ensuring early treatment, but access to these services can be limited for under-served populations. Furthermore, the hesitance to get screened for certain cancers, such as breast or prostate, can be a barrier to timely care. In 2016, St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam initiated Cancer Peer Education (CPE) to address these health concerns.
