Providers are on the front line of the vaping threat
This week, HANYS President Bea Grause, RN, JD, issued the following statement on addressing the public health threat of vaping:
“Vaping is an urgent public health threat that must be addressed to protect the health of all New Yorkers, especially the many young people who have been lured into vaping by questionable marketing. HANYS applauds Gov. Cuomo for moving aggressively to address this issue and for recognizing the ongoing, critical role of our hospitals and health systems in safeguarding the public health against this threat.”
“Our hospitals and health systems are on the front line of caring for people suffering from vaping-associated severe respiratory disease. New York’s healthcare providers also play a pivotal role in educating patients, families and the public about public health threats, including the health effects of vaping.”
“The Healthcare Association of New York State and our member healthcare providers support efforts at the local, state and federal level as part of a broad, aggressive public health agenda to reduce vaping and advance the science to better understand, prevent and treat this illness.”
