HANYS and members advocate for priorities in Washington

HANYS and member hospitals met with New York delegation members, including House and Senate leadership, on Capitol Hill this week in conjunction with AHA’s Advocacy Day. The meetings garnered support for top priorities like averting a 4% statutory cut to Medicare, investing in GME and extending the Medicare Dependent Hospital program and enhanced low volume adjustment. HANYS will continue to push for action on these items before the end of the year.


Spotlight on Montefiore Nyack Hospital

They partnered with Pace University’s College of Health Professions to offer hands-on service animal training for staff. Canines Assisting in Health founder Dr. Joanne Singleton and her golden retriever service dog, Pawfessor Spirit, led the session which included how to direct a service dog’s behavior to prevent distractions that might lead to injury.
