Health Commissioner Visits Two Hospitals during Public Health Week
To celebrate Public Health Week, April 2 – 6, New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker visited two of HANYS’ member hospitals to highlight some of the important work hospitals are doing in public and community health.
On April 3, Commissioner Zucker hosted Grand Rounds at the Ellenville Regional Hospital with leaders and staff from the Institute of Family Health and the Ellenville Family Health Center. He talked about the future of primary care, and panel participants discussed the importance of collaboration between community health centers and hospitals, integrating social diagnosis into the patient encounter, and the emerging role of telehealth in primary care.
On April 5, Commissioner Zucker visited Montefiore Nyack Hospital to talk about the importance of health literacy in public health and healthcare settings.
