DOH Launches 2019-2024 Prevention Agenda at Population Health Summit
Last week, DOH held a full-day Population Health Summit in Albany to officially launch the Prevention Agenda 2019-2024, which focuses on making New York the healthiest state for people of all ages.
HANYS was a sponsor of the full day summit and of the Prevention Agenda, which promotes community engagement and collaboration and has led to improved community health planning efforts across the state.
The Prevention Agenda is also designed to implement health across all policies which integrates all state agencies into the five priority areas:
- Prevent Chronic Diseases;
- Promote a Healthy and Safe Environment;
- Promote Healthy Women, Infants and Children;
- Promote Well-Being and Prevent Mental and Substance Use Disorders; and
- Prevent Communicable Diseases.
Some of HANYS’ hospital members, including Northwell Health and NYU Langone Health, presented at the summit. They highlighted the important work they are doing in collaboration with their local county health departments and community-based organizations to improve the health of their communities. They also shared their work on the social determinants of health and addressing health disparities. Contact: Sue Ellen Wagner
