HANYS members continue to fight chronic disease by promoting physical activity
Even with an increase of adults reaching physical activity guidelines between 2008 and 2017, preventing chronic diseases through physical activity continues to be a priority for New York through its Prevention Agenda.
HANYS’ member hospitals and health systems have shown leadership with DOH’s mission of addressing this issue by reaching individuals outside of traditional healthcare settings through innovative exercise programs. HANYS members have engaged in providing weight loss information sessions in multiples languages, promoting and participating in community walks and engaging their communities through logging their physical activity digitally.
