New Report on Report Cards finds wide variation that confuses patients and unfairly burdens providers

Today HANYS issued the third edition of our Report on Report Cards, which found wide variation in hospital quality report card methodologies and results. The proliferation of report cards confuses and potentially misleads patients and unfairly burdens providers. HANYS calls on all stakeholders to streamline, align and focus on measures that matter most for patients and are a true reflection of hospital quality and safety.

Report on Report Cards analyzes 12 publicly available hospital report cards. It includes data visualizations, an explanation of today’s chaotic measurement environment, slides and message points for hospital leaders and their boards and a consumer healthcare decision guide.

HANYS members are encouraged to download the report and register for a webinar on Monday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m., to learn more.

Consumers deserve consistent and accurate information about healthcare quality. Too many report cards with disparate methodologies confuse rather than inform, and unfairly burden providers.
