New York's budget deficit: Medicaid cuts to providers are not the solution

This week, the New York State Department of Health announced a 1% reduction in Medicaid payments effective Jan. 1 through March 31, 2020. The estimated impact of this across-the-board reduction totals $124 million in the last quarter of the current state fiscal year (2019-2020). HANYS estimates that about $35 million is attributed to hospital inpatient, outpatient and continuing care services.

HANYS President Bea Grause’s latest blog post discusses why Medicaid cuts to providers are not the solution to New York’s budget issues.
