New York's budget deficit: Medicaid cuts to providers are not the solution
This week, the New York State Department of Health announced a 1% reduction in Medicaid payments effective Jan. 1 through March 31, 2020. The estimated impact of this across-the-board reduction totals $124 million in the last quarter of the current state fiscal year (2019-2020). HANYS estimates that about $35 million is attributed to hospital inpatient, outpatient and continuing care services.
