Thousands of clinicians share personal stories to combat mental health stigma

This weekend, thousands of clinicians statewide shared their personal stories about seeking mental health treatment to combat stigma for physicians and others using Twitter. The effort launched after a New York Times story provided details around a prominent physician’s death due to suicide during the harrowing conditions of New York’s COVID-19 crisis. The story pointed to the challenges of becoming sick, and the heavy burden of guilt and shame due to stigma. Tools and training for staff and leadership on behavioral health for the healthcare workforce are posted to HANYS' COVID-19 webpage. Contact: Sarah DuVall
